چکیده
Background: The incidence of concurrent traumatic brain injury (TBI) and cervical spine (c-spine) is relatively high, with a variety risk factors. Objectives: purpose this study was to determine the related factors associated combined cranial c-spine in TBI patients by assessing their demographics clinical profiles. Method: A retrospective attending Trauma Centre at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital as post head trauma emergencies CT imaging performed between January 2018 December 2018. Results: total 236 met criteria for study; 30 (12.7%) presented injury. Most were males (75%) accounted 70% injured patients. most common mechanism relationship motor vehicle collisions (MVCs) and/or pedestrian (70%). cerebral contusions (40%), subarachnoid haematomas (36%) skull fractures (33.3%). statistically significant intracranial type more likely have an diffuse axonal ( p = 0.04). Conclusion: results suggest that should be considered presenting contusion, haematoma fracture. high c-spinal than 1% spinal cord suggests scanning employed routine MVC
